Plot:
What do you get when you put a group of violent prisoners, including a couple of drug dealers, an armed robber, a serial sex offender and a murderer, on a supposedly uninhabited island with an unknown...( read more

I have a weakness for horror movies and very little squeamishness about fake violence, so discount accordingly. This is a JD story by way of The Most Dangerous Game, with a bit of the Italian lost-on-the-island-so-let's-split-up genre. Very nicely done for what it is (a bloodbath), with believable characterizations in an unbelievable plot.
Weak story about a group of insanely dangerous prisoners, who after bullying their cellmate David into cutting his wrists end up on a desolate island with David's father after them.
The movie contains very creepy blood and gore and extreme guts spilling, mostly as a result of mean voracious dog attacks. It could have been awesome, but unfortunately it doesn't differ much from the regular spatter movies.
Wilderness falls squarely into B-movie horror territory; the concept is ridiculous, the characterisation is non-existent, the acting is awful across the board and it also looks very, very cheap. Taken on these terms, if that's possible, there's still some enjoyment to be found. The basic pitch is: male young offenders, being punished for their part (or lack thereof) in the suicide of another inmate, are packed off to a remote, uninhabited island for team-building, orienteering and to learn respect. There, coincidentally, they run into another team-building group of teenage girls, and they soon have to stick together to out run an unseen enemy - plus a pack of rabid dogs - gradually picking them off one by one in gruesome ways. The reasons behind the attacks is where the film utterly derails; the survivors, whilst talking about what might be happening, come to an absolutely insane conclusion that turns out to be true and all suspension of disbelief is thrown out of the window. Such 'plot development' is just crazy and quite frankly I would've been happier if the murders been committed by a giant snake or a garden gnome (spoiler: they're not!). Ah well. Anyway, what keeps the film interesting is some actually quite inventive camerawork, which includes underwater shots, blood splatters on the lens, crash zooms etc., and the level and ferocity of the cartoonish violence, as limbs are torn off and heads ripped from bodies.
I don't really know what to say except that it's not great. There were also a couple of god awful scenes mixed in.
Very bloody & gory British horror film that has some bad guys being hunted down in the woods by a killer.
as british horror/thriller films go,this one isnt to bad, apart from some very shoddy acting.after a very slow start the tension builds very well.for my taste it needed more humour interlaced with the tension and the gore.
The movie delivered on gore, atmosphere and the cast was good.Entertaining & very bloody. Not the biggest gross-out you will ever see, but still quite a few good tense moments.
Low budget UK horror, looked great from trailer but bit of a let down overall, had great potential. Very gory.
This was a blend of Dog Soldiers and every other wilderness film you have ever seen but still worth a watch.
Yes finally a great way to deal with young offenders... LOL... I can think of a few high profile criminals who I would love to send to a place like this.
Awesome Horror movie! Wasn't sure about it at first, but within it are contained some pretty cool deaths. My personal favourite being when buddyguy gets eaten by the dogs, and the feast was drawn out too... fuckin' cool shit...
another brit horror much like dog soldiers. it even had one of the guys from dog soldiers in it. from the cover i was thinking this would be about werewolves as usual but it wasn't which was probably its saving grace for me. liked alot of the scenes. although it's not as terrifying as dog soldiers, it does keep you entertained.. and most importantly.. awake. the totty was okay ;-) look out for the dogs head being put on a stick. the only bit that spoiled this was the last 10 minutes. i didn't see the reason of coming out like that when ya could take em out from a distance. you'll see what i mean when you view it
Solid if unoriginal Lord of the Flies type film. Hard to root for anyone, which is problematic. Some fierce dog mauling effects.
Watched this movie 2 days ago, It was a good movie with a twist of a story line..I was really creeped out by the dogs..A must see..But with poor acting in it, other then that it was good
awsome brit flick thriller/horror, with borstal kids being taught a lesson team building on a deserted army island....are they alone?
Much better than I thought it would be, has quite a strong plot and ends up being an above average horror!
Actually not a bad film at all, but you have to be willing to wait until it gets good. Certainly when it starts off you'll be thinking, what the fuck?, this is a piece of crap. Or at least I did.
It's kind of Lord of the Flies meets The Hole (the one with a young Keira Knightley)
I reccomend it if you like this genre and you have a chance to watch it with some friends, it's pretty decent.
Gory. Very gory. The deaths are horrible like, getting face ripped open with bear trap, burned to death, throat slit, getting eaten by a pack of wolves and at one point you even see a severed arm in a stream!! Overall worth a look if you want to see a gory horror film!
