I was pleasantly surprised by Hancock. It was much more entertaining that I originally thought it would be. The humor of the first half was a definite plus, but the tacked on melodrama of the last act cost it half a star in my view.
loved it loved it loved it !!!!! didnt see the whole twist with charlize therons character coming at all !! will smith is such a great actor !!!
I loved it especially the fight scene towards the end. I tend to get emotional so the end brought tears to my eyes
it's different...for one, the hero is black...and i like that concept... will smith is really one heck of an actor...but i don't think charlize theron is kinda fit for the role...
Not at all as good as I thought it would be. The fighting scene was over done and the story line crumbled towards the end.
It was lots better than I thought it would be. Will Smith is excellent in his role, but the end was pretty dull and preditive.
It was OK. not great, but typical Will Smith summer movie schlock. WIll I buy when it comes out? Probably.
Man the trailer doesn't do this film any justice, really surprised me, I take back everything I said about Will Smith. What really won me over though was the direction it decided to go in with Charlize Therons character, now that I really enjoyed. Effects a little off in some sequences but do I really care? No I don't because heck I was entertained, yes it's not your average superhero film, there's really no villian, but I liked that. Instead the whole story is carried by Smith and Therons characters, the Gods, great idea, would have liked that idea to be expanded on but again I'm satisfied enough. Great popcorn film, what the summer needed, and seriously what Hollywood needed, yes please to more female action heroes.
not tht grt.. but it was entertaining.. will smith was kind of very cool and carried his role well.. but it was charlize theron's charater tht makes this movie awful..
But really liked some of the scenes and the visual effect.. very thin plot and thts its shortcomings..
Good watch..
This turned out a lot better than I expected. From the trailers it looked like a disaster. I actually bought into the idea of a drunk, washed up super hero after a while and actually liked the angle. I didn't care as much for the second half of the film when it takes it predictable "twist." The acting from Will Smith was subpar and the special effects were bad and needed to be upgraded. Overall all an OK movie with some moments of entertainment to be had.
It's not the kind of summer Movie we're expecting....it's just a story of unknown Hero with forgotten identities struggling under pointless story line. It's no doubt that Critics are tearing it apart. See it only & only if you like Will Smith or you have nothing else to do..
Classic case of great idea, mediocre execution. Strong performances are marred by weak CGI and a lack of a central villain.
Will Smith. That's all you've got to say, and you're guaranteed a big opening at the box office. Well, from the looks of it, Smith also guarantees you at least a mildly entertaining film, which is what we get in his latest movie, Hancock. In the hands of any other leading star, Hancock would probably end up being a below average film. It's Smith's charisma, charm, and unwavering likability that ultimately save the film. He can make you laugh, cheer, cry, and even root for his character (who is a total ass, as he is reminded a number of times throughout the movie) no matter what kind of shenanigans he may cause.
Hancock is not the generic superhero film and is probably one of the more ingenious ideas to come across a producer's desk in quite some time. To me, what it seems like is that the writers of the film loved the idea, started off extremely strong, and then began to realize that how hard it is to sustain a simplistic idea over the course of a full length motion picture (and it is because of this that Hancock is relatively short). The writers' plan to solve this problem is to throw in a totally unnecessary and badly handled plot twist to keep the audience guessing. The lack of a central villain also hurts the movie a lot. The character that serves as Hancock's enemy in the finale isn't even well acted. The person is laughable.
This is an action movie, so it should come as no surprise to see well done and original action in the movie. However, I felt the effects could have used a few more weeks of polishing in the editing room. The camera is also quite crampy. I also have problems with the film's score, as it does not add an epic feeling to the film like it should have. I felt like something was missing in the climax of the film (which is not the end). The action scenes, while entertaining and original, were not long enough to engage the audience like say, The Incredible Hulk, nor were they as jaw dropping as those in Wanted.
The film's strength rides on its three stars. Action veterans Will Smith and Charlize Theron both deliver winning performances as usual, and that should come as no surprise. Smith's charisma is enough to make anyone happy, and it's so easy to see why so many people love him. Theron is always a sight to behold (except in Monster, lol), and this film is no different. I enjoyed her performance the most, especially in the second act and the beginning of the third. Jason Bateman, who seems to be the bridge connecting the performances of Smith and Theron, is great as usual, and likable, marking a change from his recent turn in "Juno". There really isn't another performance to note, and part of Hancock's weakness is that there are really only three main engaging characters. It should also be noted that the kid who played Bateman's son was absolutely adorable.
Hancock is the classic case of great idea, and mediocre execution. I can see this idea being remade years from now, and pulled off even better. It's not a fault of Peter Berg, the film's director, as the real weakness is in the screenplay, which falters after an excellent and wonderful opening act. It's not a bad film by any means, nor is it great. It's in between "okay" and "good".
it was funny,i like the little boy saying "you heard me" after he called Hancock an ***hole, but i like Hancock while he was not wearing those special super heroes suit, kind of think that he is not like the other super heroes, just a regular person with a special power and with a bad attitude but have a big heart..
I loved the plot twists in this movie. It's also got a little of everything -- first it's a comedy, then a drama, then an action movie.
Unbearable superhero movie until the emergence of an opposite sex counterpart and a love object from past decades and centuries... Its revived love story turns it to a poor melodrama with a sentimental ending of designing a heart on the moon...
This movie had a great premise, but didn't live up to it. Its creators couldn't seem to decide whether it should be funny or serious, and it succeeded at neither. The funny parts could be funny though, when they weren't offensive, but there were too few (or too many, depending on how you look at it). And the back story made no sense, which was annoying given they didn't even need a back story.
The acting was alright, though Jason Bateman seemed like he had just walked off the set from Arrested Development. I kept expecting someone to address him as "Michael." Which isn't a complaint, just an oddity.
Hancock is most definitely DIFFERENT. Action veterans Will Smith and Charlize Theron both deliver winning performances. Smith's charisma is enough to make anyone happy. It was OK. But I get the feeling that Will Smith could do better. I like this guy. He has a much better movie than Hancock in him. Finally, I got one Question: Why is it that love sometimes saps our powers?
A very boring superhero movie that doesn't make much sense in terms of character and plot. A passable action flick.
Could have been much better based on the storyline. Did have an interesting twist but the ending was weak. Spoiler alert: He should have died.
This movie was so awesome! It is so funny for the first half and then it gets serious. Its a great twist for a new super hero!
i like the idea of a homeless super hero although he may of had some hard time he is really fantastic
what a class film loved his fuck it attitude and then his then his sarcastic trying to be a better person"good job?" haha
This superhero flick not only works as an action-adventure & an comedy, but it also works as an brilliant & multi-faceted character piece about an worldwide archetype: the reluctant hero.
hmm was ok but a bit predictable. not a huge will smith fan so maybe thats why i gave it less than 4 starts. dunno just didn't seem that great but it was funny at times. its interesting to see a an alcoholic superhero for a change!
I saw/heard some bad reviews for it, but tbh I actually liked the movie. It wasn't as bad as I thought it would but, but it does have a decent bit of swearing in it if that matters to you.

I thought that this was an amazing action packed movie with a neat and surprising twist. And the humorous moments were a plus! Overall... I LOVED IT!
Im going to watch it tomorrow
I think it will be awesome cause will smith in it.........
I love action movies. Haven't seen the movie yet, but from what I've seen on the previews, it looks like a great movie, something that will keep you on the edge of your seat. I love watching Will Smith because in his own way, he gets a little comedic with it, like he's not afraid to change the story lines, push the limit a little bit. He's very mannly and handsome!!
Of course its not i am legend 2, and their not going to make i am legend 2, smith died at the end of i am legend
Will Smith played a excellent super hero in this movie. He was very inept in the beginning, but became very talented as a super hero at the end. Def a great movie to check out.
