Plot: A young man receives an emergency phone call on his cell phone from an older woman. The catch? The woman claims to have been kidnapped; and the kidnappers have targeted her husband and child next.
I honestly liked this movie and do own it as all.
It was.. just watchable. Only just, I mean I survived watching the whole movie somehow, not that it was at all entertaining.
The plot was one of the stupidest I have ever seen. I mean really, it was. Here it is if you want to know why. Basically this woman [Kim Basinger] was kidnapped from her home, and the kidnappers threaten to take her son next. This, by the way, all happened because her husband had footage on his camera of the kidnappers killing 2 people. So, they put the woman in a basement and smash the only phone in there that was connected. When they leave her, she puts a few wires together and suddenly the phone works for her, amazing eh? She gets through to a young guy, maybe in his early twenties, and convinces him that she has been kidnapped and for him to go to the police and take up "10 minutes of his day" to help her. So much for ten minutes - what follows is just a huge mess. The whole time he has no proof that she is actually kidnapped, and yet he goes to all sorts of measures like stealing cars and threatening to shoot people. He even goes to her sons school to try and save him, I mean he could have been anywhere in the world but coincidentally he is close enough to go there. And he even tries to beat the kidnappers to the airport to get her husband, with no plan of stopping them. You guessed right about the happy ending. This plot was just stupid and your left the whole time thinking about stuff he could easily do to help her rather than trying to save them all by himself. Sometimes in these movies they have an ex-cop or something that is the main character and saving everyone, but the one in this one described as childish and immature? How can they expect someone like that to do those things?
The acting was embarrassing for pretty much everyone. I guess Jason Statham played his part okay, he was the main reason I chose this in the first place. But Kim Basinger? Chris Evans? The acting from them was crap beyond belief, it was as if they were just saying it and showed no emotion from the characters.
The verdict is that I really, really wouldn't recommend you see this.
A first-rate, fast-paced, adreniline-pumping thriller. It packs on plenty of smarts and thrills. Gripping and intelligent edge of your seat fun. Lot's of action and suspense. Excitment in awsome dosages. It never lets up, this is to much of an enjoyable ride that you dont wanna miss. Thrilling and exhilerating. A very well-crafted and brilliantly made movie. Chris Evans gives a star-making performance. Kim Basinger is teriffic. Jason Statham gives a great and charasmatic performance as the films main villian. William H. Macy is excellent.
Je n'aime pas trop les films où tout est rivé sur une chose, un objet, mais ce film est génial. On tombe complètement dans l'action.
Fun, at times tense, by the book thriiler with a new spin on it. In the form of the mobile convo between captor(kim Basinger)and random guy(Chris Evans).
Like that nina simone song in it too and the credits are cool with them looking at their phones. sinner man ooh ooh classy fun film, i really like chris evans and jason statham too!
A film for repeated viewing, provides loads of laughs as well as keeping its serious undertones and tenseness. Twists and moderate action, the acting is by the book, crisp and clean.
Also look out for the cool credits all revovling round there mobiles. Original and class are the only two words that sum up this. I have this film in my collection and ive watched it so many times.
Chris Evans is sensational and carries the film, also displays fine chemistry with his fellow co-stars William H. Macy, Kim Basinger and Jason Statham. Took a while to get use to him playing the villian. Taken in the right context this film is so much fun and a feast for your brain, not really for kids who wont understand its adult humour i guess.
Dont watch if your some stuck up arse who doesnt appreciate or have a sense of humour.
watched yest n its not bad at all..i wonder why it didnt make it to the BOX-OFFICE CHART cevans is soo kiyoot! especially when he started panickin! ^^

Well, it looks good in the trailer. If you want my advice (which you do otherwise you wouldnt have read this far) watch it once, and be thourourly dissapointed, and use that experience to look out for other not so good movies. Credit has to go to EVERY other actor however, for putting in an effort, but Kim Basinger looks like shes waiting for the bus. For shame Kim for shame, you let your fellow actors down. Gets slightly better towards the end.
