Plot: In the near future, gas prices are at an astronomical high. One man is determined to find an alternate fuel source. That alternate fuel source turns out to be blood...HUMAN BLOOD.
In a near future when gas prices have soared, a kindergarten teacher inadvertently discovers a way to make his car run on human blood.
Amateur film-making at its finest, this film finds a terrific blend of farce and deadpan seriousness.
The dark humor of the film had me laughing all the time, as did the numerous WTF? moments.
Recommended.
Wonderful idea but after an hour it becomes tiresome and trite.
Also, could've done without watching children being shot on screen. Bad form I say!
Not what I thought it would be, but actually better. A thoughtful yet crude satire on social status and our energy and gas concerns. Yes, some gore to be certain, but it's a comedy foremost with a disarming sense of humor.
Probably the best low budget film I've seen, ever. The parts that were meant to be funny, hit the mark and were funny, while the horror was gorey and worked well into the story. Basically it is set in the near future when gas prices are so high that everyone except the really rich has got rid of their cars cause it is too expensive to fuel up. It follows a vegan guy who tries to make an alternate fuel source out of wheat grass but accidentally cuts himself and realizes that blood makes a motor work. He makes a bit mincer in the trunk which makes blood go to the fuel tank and tries to kill animals (to dramatic and humourous effect seeing as he is a vegan) but the car won't run. He then realizes that it only runs on human blood. When he has the car up and running, all the girls want to fuck him and the story carries on from there in a murderous and humorous way.
No one is safe in this movie, crippled war veterans, school children, babies... all fuel.
There are some classic moments, for instance when a very hot, supposedly a high school girl, gets a lift and he is almost out of fuel and he tries to fake a flat tyre saying he'll need to get the spare out of the trunk. She insists he doesn't have a flat, so then he says he works in the candy and makeup business and he has tonnes of free candy and makeup in the trunk that she can have and she isn't interested. Finally he says he is so bad at giving away puppies and they are in the trunk, she makes him pull over to let the puppies out and he pushes her in the trunk and turns on the car (killing her) and then bashes the wheel of cries 'Puppies... you just killed that girl with PUPPIES!'
Nasty, satirical look at when gas prices get too high, the lengths a vegetarian liberal will go to once the opportunity arises. Amusing film with some great moments.
It's inspiring to see films like this every once in a while - hyper low-budget triumphs of the indie spirit. Occasionally hilarious and usually entertaining, except for a few kind of boring patches, Blood Car is an entertaining testament to the successes that independent film making can produce.
It's one of those movies that makes you want to go out and film your own.
An irreverent, satyrical, and twisted low-budget horror-comedy that kept me both interested and shocked.
Brune for President! Fake Wood Wallpaper for Congress. This film is the right mix of comedy and horror.
Very cool. Has been on the film festival tour this year, doing well everywhere. On DVD Nov 6.

An unexpected comedic gem. I was expecting a bad horror/gore film, and instead was treated to a blood filled romp of comedic absurdity. It's weird, made on the cheap, and brilliant.
Didn't like it that much. It was pretty boring and very low budget. Although there were some good death scenes. Also at the last 5 minutes there were some disturbing killing scenes. Overall the movie was below average for me.
Wildly entertaining and original. Shot on a ultra low budget, but it still moves and looks good. I laughed out loud in several parts and it has some social commentary. 'Blood Car' proves that talent and great ideas can prevail over big budget movies.
Some impressive low budget special effects, but some really bad acting and definite over-use of "the director's friends" with a ton of gratuitous cussing, violence, and nudity.
I was recently allowed to pre-screen Alex Orr's dark look at the future, 2 weeks into the future, with Blood Car. A movie put together by a group who got an idea and gathered up $25,000 dollars to make a movie. Currently making the Film Festival Circuit and winner of the The New Visions Award at the Cinequest Film Festival, Blood Car is the movie I think many of us have been missing.
Snakes on a Plane was supposed to be that movie. The simplicity of the idea, the perfection of the execution and the pure awesomeness of every line that was to be uttered. Sadly Snakes on a Plane, did not hit the mark that those of us that wanted it were going to get. Blood Car did however hit that mark. Every mark I had and exceeded it. Starting from the title itself, which when I told my girlfriend said, "Sounds Awesome." This movie had a feel of those movies from the 80's that we have been missing but all loved. Funny, bloody and gratuitous.
The opening monologue is funny, shot extremely well, lit wonderfully and really gets you into the movie quick, which is something that you need to have with an independent. It sets you up right from the get go and doesn't let you down at all. It just seems to get better and better, like the movie that you loved from the start got a little bit better every 10 minutes and raised the bar a little bit higher. Without the restriction of studio pressure, or the MPAA, this movie also pushes you to the edge of what a rated R movie might be and maybe goes over that line, which of course I think is absolutely wonderful. Vulgar lines, excessive blood and random nudity makes it all just work with an awesome plot that is both fun, and possibly even a bit deeper and smarter than it looks on the surface.
A solid fine acting cast that play their parts well and look their parts well, keep it all together. Sometimes this is where a solid movie is lacking. Great idea, great execution, but poor acting. Blood Car did pretty well with that also. Including Anna Chlumsky, who's name might sound familiar. She played Veda Sultenfuss in My Girl 1 and 2. Also had a role recently in one of my favorite shows 30 Rock. Mike Brune who played Archie Andrews, the main male character, did well, as a Vegan trying to get a car running on Wheat grass. Mike has a blog discussing the film and the process of making it here. Supporting cast had some people who might not have quite looked the part, but I am willing to overlook that.
Overall this movie was awesome in many ways, and is highly recommended for anyone that has a chance to see it. You can click on the poster to take you to bloodcar.com where you can find more info on new places and festivals to watch Blood Car.
Blood Car is a lot of fun. I would go so far as to say that it is definitely the best movie I have ever seen about a car that runs on Human blood. Brune for President.

Hold onto to your seat for this one. Hilarious, good pace, great characters... love the female leads in this one. This film has been hitting the circuit and I got to meet the Director Alex Orr and actress Anna Chlumsky (of My Girl fame) at the Maryland Film Festival - they were both great. Good job - see if or get on DVD when it comes out! It is what entertainment is about.
This is wonderful money. So "heartwarming" but you gotta hang to your heart (lest you lose yours!). Seriously, this movie was well received on the festival circuit - people were chanting the movie title in Philly at the Backseat Film Festival where it won the award for Best Feature. Go see it and have a laugh.
I don't wanna say quirky, but it's quirky. in a f-ing awesome way. funny, funny, funny. dark and topical. unpredictable and thoughtful, two of my favorite things in a movie. Fake Wood Wallpaper Films. Remember that name.
Blood Car is one of the best horror/comedy movies that I have seen in a long time.
In the near future gas prices have reached an all time high so people have stopped driving cars sine nobody can afford it anymore. Archie a school teacher is working on a wheatgrass car, but one night as an accident he learns that the car runs better on blood. So in prder to keep his car running so that he can take out a girl he has to find more ways to obtain blood.
I loved everything about this movie. Highly reccomened!!

"What lifts it above most low-budget horror comedies (Troma-tized or not) is the loopy, off-kilter humor director/co-scenarist Alex Orr and collaborators bring to the table. There's something charming about the feature even at its most cheerfully tasteless"
